Sequence Analysis of the Putative-cathepsin Gene of Heliothis
Armigera Single-nudeocapsid Baculovirus

Abstract
A putative ν-cathespin(cath)gene was identified from the single(S) nucleocapsid nucleopolyhedrovirus of Helicoverpa armigera(HaSNPY).This open reading frame is 1098 nucleotides long,encoding a putative protein of 366 amino acids.The amino acids sequence alignment of eleven baculoviral v-CATHs showed that the primary structure and the catalytic sited of the proteins were conserved.A pholygenetic tree of these v-CATHs was constructed by using maximun parsimony analysis,the result indicated that the ν-cath gene of HaSNPV had a different evolutionary history from that of other NPVs.
