Morphogenesis of Human Cytomegalovirus in SL_7 Cells
Abstract: The human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) strain AD_(169) was inoculated into SL_7 cells. Between the 3rd and 4th day postinfeetion, the capsids were assembled in the nucleus and budded through the nuclear membrane. From the perinuclear cisterns, the enveloped particles migrated into the cytoplasm. At this stage the virions were formed.
