THE INHIBITION OF SODIUM HEXAMETAPHOSPHATE ON PHAGE INFECTION OF S. KANAMYCETICUS

In order to produce an inhibitory effect on the infection of the strain by phage, though the phage was not inactivated,0.05-0.1％ sodium hexametaphosphate,(NaPO_3)_6,was added to the fermentation medium of S kanamyceticus.Sodium hexametaphosphate did not affect the growth of S. kanamyceticus and the production of kanamycin. It did not interfere with the resin extraction of kanamycin either.
