  • In order to produce an inhibitory effect on the infection of the strain by phage, though the phage was not inactivated,0.05-0.1% sodium hexametaphosphate,(NaPO_3)_6,was added to the fermentation medium of S kanamyceticus.Sodium hexametaphosphate did not affect the growth of S. kanamyceticus and the production of kanamycin. It did not interfere with the resin extraction of kanamycin either.
